Race Details

  • Ozark Highlands Endurance Run is a 50k or 21 mile Ultra Race that covers sections of the Ozark Highlands Trail North.

    Both race options are out then back.

    The North Section of the Ozark Highlands Trail is part of the Sylamore Ranger District within the Ozark St. Francis National Forest.

    We hope you'll make plans to stay the weekend and take advantage of the great post-race festivities and the beautiful Norfork River Valley.

  • On site lodging at the Start/Finish with Norfork River Resort (see venue).

    or

    Numerous VRBOs and campsites throughout the area and minutes drive from the Start/Finish. This is a great area for family vacations and exploration.

  • Participants will be able to pick up packets Friday, at Norfork Adventure Supply from 5:30-7:00 pm. or race morning from 6:00-6:30am at Norfork River Resort.

    Norfork Adventure Supply is less than a mile from Norfork River Resort.

  • Both events start at 7:00 a.m.

  • Hard cutoff times will be imposed at designated aid stations. Specific times are listed in the “Aid Stations” tab.

  • 50k ~ 4,750ft / 300ft change per mile.

  • Adequate flagging but nothing to prevent you from going off course.
    If you’re prone to getting lost, you’ll get bonus miles.

  • A mix of pavement, singletrack, and off-highway vehicle roads. The singletrack is highly maintained. Expect a little of everything - steep, rocky, flowy, wet, muddy, sandy, hardpack.

    This area is densely forested.

    Wildlife is abundant but most animals will run and hide long before you see them.

  • Use “Norfork Arkansas” on your weather app for predictions.

    Expect a cold start, getting warmer through the day. It is common to be humid and even rainy in March.

    Brush Creek Rd. (15.5 miles) | 50k Turnaround - Cut-off 12:15pm

    Twin Creek Rd. (20.5 miles) | Cut-off 1:45pm

    Matney Tower Rd. (16.75 / 26.75 miles) | Cut-off 5:00pm

    We need all runners off the trail once headlamps are required.

    We do not provide cups. Bring your own water bottle.

  • Standard Syllamo Events Menu:

    Hydration: Electrolyte mix, ginger ale, Coca-Cola, and water

    Sports Nutrition: various gels or chews

    Solid Foods: Sandwiches, fruit, pickles, chips, candy (hard and/or chocolate)

    Cooked/Warm Foods: Often provided when weather is cold

    Note: Our aid stations are always well stocked and runners can expect the same items at each location. Specific brands could vary.

    We do not supply NSAIDS or other pain relievers.

    Every aid stations will have basic first aid.

  • Drop Bags are allowed for both distances at Twin Creek Aid Station.

    Please have bags labeled with name and bib number.

    Small to medium sized bags. You don’t need your entire wardrobe.

  • Runners get to enjoy music, delicious homemade soup, brats off the grill, and Mel's famous Monster Cookies! We'll also have delicious craft beer from local brewing companies for you to enjoy while cheering on other runners as they make there way to the finish line!
    We hope you'll plan to stay to enjoy the party.

    Meals for spouses/family/friends are available for purchase during signup as “extra meal.” We need to know in advance so we can prepare enough food.

    All of our events are low waste, low trash events. We do not provide plates, bowls, cups, or flatware.

  • Each finisher will receive a unique finisher's award crafted by a local artist!. We will have Overall Male and Female awards as well as a Master's division.

  • “Is this a good race for my first Ultra?”

    -Average finish rate for both distances is 97%. Some years have seen 100% finish rate. This is not an easy first but it is doable if you are prepared.
